Italian Festival, Hoboken, NJ, 2007.

Statue of the Virgin Mary brought out as part of the tradition during the festival. I'll try and find more information behind it.

what a lovely shot, I love the lighting here, I often fail to recognize the sad faces these saints always have....thank you for reminding me of it! =)

Thanks! :D I liked the lightning in this shot as well. One of the reasons why I decided to post it actually even thought it's not the usual subject I photograph.
BTW, IMO... :D Their faces are not exactly sad, though there is definitely sadness here. I was actually more captured by her face, which to me seems to be rather content, dare I say, with a hint of a smile even?

that's true, I guess I kinda put it funny, I meant to say thier eyes always having some sad longing in them, but what could a saint long for? ^~^ as for their smiles ...hahaha! those rose petal lips are always giving us some dispassionate smiles i suppose....=D except oddly enough Jesus and Mary are rarley depicted smiling....as well a mary magdalene....hmmmm odd....

Haha... Aight got ya what you mean. Yeah it's not exactly a smile and the eyes definitely say something else. I guess it's kinda like the Mona Lisa... haha :P
